STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

6 Steps

1. Achieve a Cinematic Look with AI CineFocus

Use the AI CineFocus effect to instantly blur your video's background. Navigate to the Effects panel on the Edit page, search for 'CineFocus', and drag it onto your clip. This simulates a shallow depth of field, making your subject stand out.

Enable the 'OpenFX Overlay' in the Inspector to easily select your focus point by clicking directly on the preview window. For higher quality results on powerful GPUs, switch the 'Bokeh Quality' setting to 'Better'.

2. Age or De-Age Subjects with AI Face Age Transform

In the Color page, apply the 'Face Age Transformer' effect to a node. First, detect and track the subject's face. Then, use the 'Subject Age' and 'Age Offset' sliders to realistically make your subject appear older or younger throughout the clip.

The effect only applies after you adjust the 'Age Offset' slider. Increase the offset to apply the aging effect, or decrease it into negative values to create a younger, smoother appearance.

3. Instantly Retouch Skin with AI Blemish Removal

Go to the Color page and apply the 'Blemish Removal' effect to your node. This powerful AI tool automatically detects and removes skin imperfections like pimples and spots for a clean, professional look with a single click.

If the default effect isn't strong enough for more prominent blemishes, simply increase the 'Strength' slider in the effect settings to enhance the removal process.

4. Modify Facial Features with AI Face Reshaper

For creative or corrective adjustments, use the 'Face Reshaper' effect in the Color page. After detecting and tracking the face, you can adjust individual sliders for eyes, nose, mouth, and eyebrows to completely reshape facial features.

This tool is perfect for creating funny or exaggerated looks. Try increasing the eye size or adding a smile to a neutral expression for a playful transformation that tracks with the subject's movement.

5. Enhance Detail with AI Ultra Sharpen

On the Edit page, find and apply the 'Ultra Sharpen' effect from the ResolveFX library to your clip. This tool intelligently enhances clarity and fine details, making it perfect for improving footage that appears slightly soft or was shot on a lower-quality camera.

Adjust the 'Sharpness' slider gradually. Pushing it too far can introduce unwanted digital noise and artifacts, so be sure to check the results at full resolution to find the right balance.

Bonus: AI-Powered Motion Blur Removal

DaVinci Resolve 21 includes a powerful 'Remove Motion Blur' tool, which you can find by right-clicking a clip in the media bin and navigating to 'AI Tools'. This feature can analyze and salvage footage with unwanted motion blur.

Note that this is a very hardware-intensive feature. To use it, your system's graphics card must have at least 12GB of VRAM.
